PROFESSOR UNNAVA KOTESWAR RAO, in his own words

"There goes an educated man indeed...pity he is so arrogant"...These are the echoes that follow me around the city wherever I go.

I am an acclaimed Indian mathematician hailing from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. I am credited with having revolutionised classical mathematics to levels unimaginable, 20 years ago.

My strengths lie in invoking rigor into mathematical proofs. I find many of the existing proofs negligent and incomplete. The standards of rigor i introduce to these proofs gives them a completeness that is appreciated by one and all. My strengths as a brilliant problem solver are well known. My bag, being full of devious tricks, i can produce to any given problem, a cunning gameplan that leads to an elegant yet rigorous solution. This has given me the sobriquet of being the "sly old fox" of Indian mathematics. Proofs reformulated by me have inspired many a budding mathematician to follow in my footsteps. This does not mean that Koteswar Rao is a virtuous man, he remains cunning as a jackal forever.

New theorems i have produced include the celebrated "eight part theorem" and its corollaries and derivatives that are being progressively introduced at high school level itself. The task of writing a textbook to me, is the greatest sin that can be comitted by a mathematician in his prime, i have hence postponed this task to such a date whereas when my mathematical abilities may reduce to null.

Owing to several health problems, including a nervous breakdown and a bypass sugery,my production rate has drasticaly reduced to a few dozen papers a year. I have adopted a philosophy of life of having to let challenging problems go to hell and concentrating on imparting the vast knowledge i have to the younger generation. In this regard, i have recogonised my heir apparent in asst. professor Siva Prasad, who has undertaken my mantle in reformulating existing proofs.

Below are a few headlines that have appeared before articles featuring me in various papers. Publicity to me is like a demon pleople have called me a silent predator as i try to be as modest as possible and therefore avoid any media exposure as far as possible.
